Some sources state that St George was born in Cappadocia (modern-day Turkey).

Other sources say that he was born in Lydda (Lod, Palestine).

Either way, St George was born to a Greek Father & a Palestinian Mother.

After his father’s death, she returned home with the young George, and he was raised in Lod.

Later, after his martyrdom, George’s body was said to have been returned and buried in Lod, which is why the city became an important centre of his veneration.

St George was Palestinian.
